HOW MY DOPE STORYTELLING JOURNEY STARTED

MY PATH, MY JOURNEY

At nine years old, Margaret with her family moved to a new neighbourhood. As a result, she started writing to give people a glimpse of her mind, which paved the way for her to become acquainted with people in her new school.

When sent home from school due to late payment of school fees, she went to her father’s library to bury her head in books – encyclopedia, non-fiction, fiction – and realized she enjoyed books with happily ever after endings.

She went further to study Food Science and Technology at the Federal University of Technology, Akure and started writing stories in series with relatable content on her then blog, camaapearl.wordpress.com.

Her stories are mostly inspired by true stories and penned down with humour, friendship, romance, and other issues facing society. She sprinkles her storyboard with a hue of pain, as she believes that life is a bed of roses made beautiful with thorns.

Margaret Adetimehin, aka Camaa Pearl, is a Nigerian-born writer and storyteller with a refreshingly unique style that borders between reality and fiction. She writes sizzling contemporary slow burn romance for lovers of plot and steam as Camaa Pearl.

Consequently, this aura around her stories pulled in engagements on her social media platforms thereby increasing her social media followership and friendship. Fast forward to 2019, Margaret Adetimehin launched her debut novel “Nine Hours Till Five” which has been termed “refreshing and intriguing”, because of its thoughtful plot and writing pattern, as reviewed by most readers and Sally Kenneth-Dadzie, author of the bestselling book, “The Fourth Finger”.

She graduated from The George Washington University with a Master’s in Communication Management and has gone on to publish short stories, novellas, and novels after the launch of her debut novel. To empower young and upcoming authors/writers, Margaret runs an ‘authortube’ vlog on YouTube, and a writing challenge – CAMAA Write Up Challenge – on Instagram and works behind the scene with the @blackfemaleauthors. She is enthusiastic about collaborating and writing more novels that would be close companions to readers far and wide.
