The idea for Twin Bliss came sometime in November 2020 and Escape in December. I spoke with @omojessikat about having a book where characters of different authors were on a resort at the same time with lots of drama and good food. It sounded like a lot of work, like how would we sync the characters? What would your character be doing? At the same time! Launch dates too? Release at once, or no… ? After much research, I was confident enough to bring other authors on board.
The Beginning
Fast forward to when the team was set in early January, we chose our Titles and shared our stories. I started writing with the awesome ladies of @twinblissnovels in February 2021 amidst my finals and Masters’ Thesis. Come April, I was done with my first draft, eager to write the second and the rest. But instead, I focused on brushing up Romantic Illusions which I had written since May 2020.
Brainstorming Escape
I documented the process of writing Escape and most of the ideas I tossed around here have disappeared! Hehehehe…. You’ll find that in the series of videos here. My partner is a major supporter of my writing and you’ll see a lot of how he helped in the process of writing Escape. I’ll drop a long heartfelt dedication or acknowledgment within the book.
Did you notice the dark circles around my eyes? Girl was tayaaaaddddddd. This video should be a topic on its own, how to brainstorm for a novel. I made use of Microsoft Speech to Text to write faster.
Oopsie! Change of Plans
By July, when I checked with @timiwaters_bookclub who was about to launch #Haven, the first book in the series, a lot had changed, a loooooot of things. Then @omojessikat reached out to me, telling me a couple of things (which was actually a lot too) had changed in her storyline that affected my characters.
Mehn… I had to start writing Escape afresh. Like, it was not the easiest thing to do – when I thought I had finished everything and all that was left was to rewrite, edit, then launch – far from it.
Back To The Table
I started rewriting #Escape few days after the launch of Romantic Illusions. I tried to keep up with promoting Romantic Illusions but mehn, it was draining. I had to sacrifice one for the other. I hope you have read Romantic Illusions already.
#Escape would be my first full-length adult romance novel – it’s over 80,000 words before edits! My first Multi-Author Series and a lot of firsts for me with Escape. I pushed myself to go further than I’ve ever gone and I must say, it’s looking sparkling cute. The reviews from my Alpha readers, comparing my writing style to that of Jude Deveraux! OMG!
